Hack the Coast is dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and harassment-free experience for everyone.

The Short Version

Be respectful. Be kind. Be professional. Hack the Coast is a community event, and we expect all participants — attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and organizers — to treat each other with dignity and respect. Harassment of any kind is not tolerated.

Expected Behavior

  • Be welcoming and inclusive to all participants regardless of background, identity, or experience level
  • Be respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
  • Accept constructive criticism gracefully
  • Focus on what is best for the community
  • Show empathy toward other community members
  • Respect the venue, equipment, and property

Unacceptable Behavior

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form
  • Offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or technology choices
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Sustained disruption of talks or events
  • Photography or recording without consent
  • Any conduct that would be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Reporting

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to any event organizer or volunteer. You can also email us directly. All reports will be handled with discretion and taken seriously.

Enforcement

Event organizers reserve the right to take any action deemed appropriate in response to conduct that violates this Code of Conduct, including warning the offender, expulsion from the event without refund, and reporting to appropriate authorities.
